Description of the doctoral dissertation
Many articles were published worldwide for the purpose of exposing financial crises, through their similarities and differences occurring in different times in different countries. We can see that since 1825 not all crises were of a global nature. This conclusion includes those which had a connection with the banking business. Given this fact, the study of the functioning of financial institutions seems to deserve a place in the study of the current crisis and the subsequent economic upheaval. It should be analyzed in order to evaluate the causes of this financial crisis, whose consequences have exceeded the closest predictions. This being done, banking regulation has to be analyzed at European, international and national levels over time.
